Personal and Commission Updates... and why does Wegmans hate Weebly?

Hi everyone. I would normally be posting some of this on the company website, Gamer's Pair O Dice, and some of this on here, but since the filter at Wegmans has decided that it hates my company site and blog I am forced to post it all on here. So, without any further a due, I have some interesting stuff for you.

Commission Work:
So, first of all I have a commission that is almost done and another waiting in the wings. The one that is almost finished is Mulg the Ancient. I have to simply add the tartan pattern to his loincloth and he is finished.

As you can see in this shot, Mulg has Strakhov in his hand and is sort of looking down at him. The rocks have had an extra layer of highlight added to them and the model, in person at least, has a very strong presence. I will be adding the tartan pattern to his loincloth tonight and then putting on the final clear coat and flocking his base.

After Mulg is finished I will be hopping straight into another troll project which I think I have covered on the Gamer's blog which is a Trollblood multi kit that has been magnetized but needs some touch up and rebuilding.
I will be including pictures of that as soon as I can as it is a "hot mess" and I think it will look spectacular once it is finished.

Personal Projects:
This has to be a large section of what I am doing right now. The Battletech miniatures for Historicon 2013 are on hold at the moment as I go on a Warmachine painting binge. Recently I acquired several models including Butcher 3, a Kodiak, a Conquest, a Gun Carriage, Battle Mechanik Officer, and a Devastator, Demolisher, Spriggan multi jack kit that I equipped as a Demolisher as I have 2 Devs and a Spriggan already.

The Gun Carraige and Kodiak

Horses, We don't need no stinkin' horses!
With the Gun Carriage I had been looking at it and realized that the model is pretty damn cool. I also noticed though that the Kodiak seemed to line up with it pretty well. I took a minute, shaved the point off the yoke, and came up with what you see to the left. The idea is that the Kodiak will actually be attached by a magnet, as will the horses. This will allow me the flexibility to have the Kodiak drawing the Gun Carriage behind it but also, if I really need to run 2 kodiaks, I can pull him off, put him on his own base, and mount the horses up. I think that this will make an interesting model on the tabletop and is something I haven't really seen online as usually the mods you see to the Gun Carriage is to convert it over to a steam powered tank. I also plan on drilling out the holes on the sides of the cannons and will hopefully have this painted up and finished before the end of the year. They will be done up in my 5th Border Legion colors.

The Rest of the Khadoran Horde

I have the reset of the models included in a video below. Everything is pretty basic. The Conquest is primed a ruddy brown as I plan to make him match the artwork as closely as possible. The Mechanic and the Demolisher are being done in the colors of the 5th Border Legion. I am up in the air on how to do Butcher. Part of me wants to make him and his Argi match the rest of the army, the other part of me though wishes to do them so that they are similar to the artwork for him. I will probably make up my mind soon, I hope. The video is below, after that I am including a "photo dump" of the minis so far for your enjoyment.

Until next time - CJ

Almost a year....

So, its been almost a year since I last posted on this blog. It isn't that I have had a lac of interest, quite the opposite, I have had a great deal of interest and have been pretty busy, I have just been blogging primarily at another blog I work on.... Im trying to compartmentalize though and keep the work stuff over there and the business stuff over here. Though I may migrate the blog there to this site.... if I can just figure out how. anyway. I wanted to talk about a project that I am undertaking to rebuild a Gun Carraige I bought off a friend that has seen better days.

Foodmachine, Heavy Starch Mayhem

So, with the holiday season in full swing I am out here "pimping" a good cause. The cause if Foodmachine. This is something I am happy to see being done. I know that not everyone has had to rely on food banks or any other assistance programs, but I know that I have once in my life at least and I also know what it is like to not be able to put food on the table for my family. I have been there and I know I don't ever want to go back.

It is one thing to be without, it is a completely other thing to not only be without but have to go to someone else and ask for that help. I know I am a pretty independent minded individual and that it takes a lot to swallow your pride and go that step. I also know that it doesn't take too much to step up and put something in for those in need.

I know I have sort of tooted my own horn by showing that myself and J have both painted up models for this cause through what is known as Orange Crush. Below you will find a list of what the army includes as well as a widget to donate and links to all the models received so far as well as to the Foodmachine website.

Out for now - CJ

Orange Crush: Painting for Charity

We’re also kicking things up this year with a companion event for all the hobbyists out there.  Orange is the official color of hunger awareness and so we wanted to combine that aspect of the charity into Foodmachine. Project: Orange Crush (Hunger) gives hobbyists the chance to devote their special talents to the cause.

This year, we've drawn up a Tier 4 Lord Carver army full of Farrow models.  We’re asking the community to sign up to paint a model from the army in an orange scheme of their choosing.  The army will then be auctioned off for charity. Privateer Press’ studio painters, Matt DiPietro and Meg Maples, will be painting up Arkadius and Sturm & Drang (respectively) as bonus warlocks, while this year’s GenCon Formula P3 Grandmaster, Richard Curtiss, will be painting up Lord Carver for the army. In addition, Privateer Press’ hobby manager, Leo Carson-DePasquale, has agreed to paint up Targ. That’s a great looking start to this impressive project!

Here’s what this year’s army looks like:

• Army Name: Foodmachine 2012

• Minion Theme Force: The Golden Horde Tier 4

• 50+6 points, 37 models

• Lord Carver, BMMD, Esq. III +6 points

• * Gun Boar 5 points

• * Road Hog 9 points

• * War Hog 8 points

• * Targ 2 points

• Rorsh and Brine 9 points

• 6 Farrow Bone Grinders 3 points

• 6 Farrow Brigands 4 points

• 10 Farrow Brigands 7 points

• Farrow Razorback Crew 3 points

• Farrow Slaughterhousers 6 points

• Tier Bonuses

• One Farrow unit gains Advance Deployment.

• Models/units gain Pathfinder for the first turn.

• Models in Carver's battlegroup gain Advance Move.

So, What I have been up to......

Recently I painted a Juggernaut in a white and red "Unbreakable 111th" scheme. I later decided I like it and, well, I have stripped and repainted Beast 09.

I have also been working on a model for Orange Crush for Foodmachine and gotten him finished

Finally I have started painting my BattleTech minis I got at Historicon back in July..... yeah... July...... I present to you the Pariah that I plan on taking into the Grand Melee in 2013 at Historicon, if there is a Grand Melee there.....

Experimenting with a Light box and Fenris

So, I am in the process of seperating my forces into 5th Border Legion, Unbreakable 111th, and GeneralKhador. One of my General Khador models is Fenris. I also am trying out a new photo-fu method of using a Milk Carton as a light box, works really well actually. I also noticed after the pics that I have a few details to fix on him.... I like my new lightbox. I hope you enjoy the pics.

Post Game Review, 10/16 Steamroller

Well, I really don't have too much to say. I will say I enjoyed myself immensely and had a great time. It only went three games due to the number of players and I played against Menoth in round one andlost, great game though and the first time my Conquest has been defeated. The 2nd game was Cryx and try as they might, they couldn't bring Augie down. The final game was against Legion. I went with Karchev for the sheer fun factor and it was a straight up knock down drag out heavy beast and infantry vs heavy jacks and infantry brawl. Thanks to my opponents for the great games and thanks to The Game Vault for hosting this tournament..... I might want to start talking to the pressganger about maybe running a Foodmachine event.
