Nids and Manhunter Progress

Well, I have finished a few of the nids, did a Manhunter, and have almost all the "invasion" bases ready to go.

A random thought on painting

So, I have been painting more nids since I got off work stopping ot work on a Manhunter from time to time so I dont have to see the nids the whole timeI have realized something though. When you are doing a big army small steps can take forever. I dont mind it. In fac it is relaxing. But I have noticed that making the bases is about 2 days of work alone, basing all the models will take a few hours as well on its own.

Even thought I never intend to field this army on a tabletop as I am going to sell it, I still find a sense of satisfaction in makign them and bringing to life a horde of Tyranids that I know someone, maybe even I, will have to face down one day. Of course though, I also think I am partially driven by the want to play against armies painted to at least the same level as mine, or painted at all.

I know that might make me an elitist of sorts because I dont like playing with unpainted pieces. I think though that a fully painted and based army though lends a certain cinematic feeling to the game.

Anyway.... I do digress...

Basicaly I hate looking at crap like this:

Click to zoom in, not for the faint of heart
Yes Stelek, your army looks shitty.

What are everyone elses thoughts on painting, be it Warmachine, Warhammer, 40K, or any other game out there that you like?

Building nids on the side

So, I have been working on a nid army on my off time that I am really just building to sell. I started using a alien invasion set of bases from Micro Art Studios then they stopped making them, so.....

Finally a full set of pics of my Karchev Block

So, a few moths back I was in a tourney, and, quite frankly, I use thsi list almost exclusively, so. Here goes. This is my Karchev Block

The army itself consists of:
System: Warmachine

Faction: Karchev - Iron Curtain
Casters: 1/1
Points: 50/50
Tiers: 4
Army as a Whole
Karchev the Terrible (*5pts)
Karchev the washed out by the lighting!

* Destroyer (8pts)
* Juggernaut (6pts) - Classic
Destroyer and Old Juggernatur
* Juggernaut (6pts)
* Devastator (8pts)
New Juggernaut and Devastator

Battle Mechaniks (Leader and 5 Grunts) (3pts)
Mechaniks
Greylord Ternion (Leader and 2 Grunts) (4pts)
Greylords
Man-o-war Bombardiers (Leader and 4 Grunts) (11pts)
Bombardiers
Man-o-war Shocktroopers (Leader and 4 Grunts) (9pts)
Shocktroopers

On a side note, has anyone noticed that the Bombardiers appear to have the perfect anti-zombie weapon? I mean it is a Grenade Launcher with a Chainsaw all in one..........

The Devastator has been somewhat modified for a contest in NQ that began when Gnarls came out, you can see the up armoring around the hydraulics as well as the leading edges of plating under the lip over the head to create a super-armored Jack

Also once it comes out finally I will probably be relegating my Destroyer to second line duty in favor of this:
Demolisher

2 Armor 25 Jacks in one list Mwahahahahahahaha!!!!!!

really gw?

Welcome to June... The birds are singing, the kids are getting all antsy because schools almost over, time to start getting them into the games stores to spend...... huh?!?!?!? $82.00 for a Stormraven...... $75.00 for a Land Raider...... I don't play marines thank god, and unless you completely change the Tau Codex I think my 6 Fire Warrior Squads, 2 Kroot Squads, Vespids, , hammerheads, devifish..es, and full farsight bomb number of crisis suits, plus a lot of other extraneous Tau stuff should hold me over for a good long time to come. Good luck getting new players to buy in with those kinda prices when they can get into a few other games at a Tournament level for a fraction of the cost of a 40K army.

Dear Games Workshop,

     Your department that determines pricing has apparently been drinking on the job.

Thank you
-John Q. Public.

P.S. You can price yourselves right out of a market, its been done in a lot of industries and it is very hard to recover from. That kinda rep sticks.

Sorry, this was supposed to auto post June 1, 2012......
